RABBI ALEX GREENBAUM
Rabbi
Alex Greenbaum is the Rabbi of Beth El Congregation of the South Hills, Pittsburgh, PA, with congregational experience from Augusta, GA, Staten Island, NY, and Alpena, MI. Ordained (in 1997) by the Jewish Theological Seminary, N.Y., he holds a M.H.L. (1993) from the University of Judaism, L.A., and a B.A. (1991) in Political Science-Pre-Law from Michigan State University, E. Lansing. Originally from Detroit, MI, Rabbi Greenbaum is married to Rabbi Amy Schomer Greenbaum, Beth El’s Associate Rabbi and Religious School Director (they were the first rabbinic couple in its 100-year history to graduate from J.T.S.). Together, with their three boys and one girl, they have lived in Pittsburgh since 2002.
RABBI AMY GREENBAUM
Associate Rabbi / Director of Education
Rabbi Amy is passionate about Judaism and loves Beth El. She and her partner in life and work, Rabbi Alex, moved to Pittsburgh to be with Beth El in 2002. Together they have four children, all present or past products of Beth El religious school. Rabbi Amy graduated from Brandeis University and received her Masters at the University of Judaism in Los Angeles. She was ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York in 1997.
